From the sociolinguistic perspective, conspiracy theories (CT), which convey heterodox forms of knowledge that diverge from accepted narratives, are worth examining since their discourses abound in persuasive language. Still, discourse CTs is under-researched (Demata/Zorzi/ Zottola 2022). The present empirical, discourse-analytical case study seeks to address this lacuna by exploring discursive (de)legitimation strategies competing narrative frames. research adopted Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) and comparative analysis was carried out within methodological framework developed van Leeuwen (2008) Tankard (2001). findings complement Leeuwen’s “grammar legitimation”, also contribute existing on framing theories. results explorative indicate persuasiveness (de)legitimisation depends several features, such as synergy, projection, sense belonging, silencing with blockers, implying generality specific cases, partial investigation causality.
